Welcome to The Waukegan Family Dental
It is our optimal goal to provide you and your family with the highest quality of dental care, while maintaining a friendly and relaxing environment.
What to expect
On your first visit with us, we will have you complete a health history and registration form so that we can be familiar with all of your needs. It is important that we collect medical information as well because we want to be as comprehensive as possible. At this time, we will also gather your dental insurance information, if applicable. We are happy to do a complimentary benefit check. Alternately, you may choose to call this information in ahead so that your specific benefits will be available to you when you arrive.
When one of our staff brings you in the back office, we want to be sure you are comfortable, so please let us know if you feel too cool or warm, or maybe need a neck bolster.
We will review your health history with you, take a blood pressure reading and do a Carefree bacteria screening to determine your risk for cavities. We will also ask you if you have any special concerns or discomforts you especially would like addressed.
Digital radiographs come next. They allow us to see where the eye cannot. Radiographs are an indispensable tool and go hand in hand with Dr. Papendick’s exam. The hygienists also use them to help access your state of gum health. Because they are digital, you can view them along with us on the monitor. In conjunction with the radiographs, we take a few digital photos. These aid in our future treatment plans for you.
Either Dr. Papendick or one of our hygienists will take a look at your gums and measure the pockets to determine the health of your gums. We will be sure to explain exactly what we are doing so that you are never surprised.
Dr. Papendick follows all of this up with a complete exam of your mouth including checking the teeth, gums, radiographs, health history, performing an oral cancer screening, sleep apnea screening and of course addressing your questions.
We allot enough time so that we can discuss whatever it is that comes to mind without rushing. It sounds like a lot for the first visit, but we feel it is important to be thorough. We look forward to seeing you soon! Call us today so that we may get acquainted! And don’t forget to check out what our patients are saying about us.
